Founded in 1954 by the Marist Brothers, Marist High School is a private Catholic, coeducational, four-year college preparatory school, which is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and a member of the Marist Network of Schools. Marist is a modern structure with thirty-five classrooms, lecture rooms, laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and conceptual physics, two art studios, a music studio and three computer labs.
The rest of the building includes a state-of-the-art Library Media Center which was added to the school in 2006, a guidance complex with a career resource center, a beautiful chapel, a large gymnasium-auditorium complex and a spacious cafeteria.
Marist is located within Bayonne, New Jersey and is situated among the 11 municipalities which comprise Hudson County, a county with an approximate population of 634,000. This urban community is directly west of New York City and reflects broad ethnic and economic diversity. The school draws a considerable number of students from Hudson, Essex, and Union Counties.
Marist High School offers three academic tracks: Advanced Placement, Honors and College Preparatory along. In addition to the three tracks, students at Marist are supplied with a Study Skills Program that is integrated into the Freshman year curriculum and a Writing Program that is integrated into the Sophomore year curriculum.
