Marist High School's commitment to an enriching student-athlete environment has long been recognized, but a recent push for improved sports programs landed them on Niche's Top 50 list for two years running.
Marist's baseball and football programs have been overhauled under new coach leadership and the coaches are eager to continue building their teams going forward.
Most notably, the boys' basketball team exceeded expectations under Ben Gamble's first year of Marist coaching, making the Top 50 in New Jersey for basketball. Both the boys' and girls' teams made a lasting impression in the County and State tournaments and are expected to out-do their performance this upcoming season.
"We understand how important athletic programs can be for school spirit and student morale," said Marist President Peter G. Kane. "It's rewarding to see the changes we implemented making a meaningful impact. We're looking forward to Marist sports continuing to rise. Go Royal Knights!"
While Marist athletics continue to flourish, they still have their focus trained on excellence in academics. In addition to making the list for top-ranked private school sports, Marist has also earned a spot on their 2020 list for Best Private High Schools in Hudson County.
“Athletics is just one of several educational pillars in developing healthy, mature, and well-prepared students," Kane continued. "Marist’s tradition of academic excellence, service, and enrichment round out the formation of young people. I am proud of what we stand for.”
