FORMER YANKEES DRAFT PICK NEW COACH AT MARIST HIGH
Marist is poised to re-capture baseball legacy and county leadership
Marist High School has hired Fernando Fuentes as Head Coach of the Boys Baseball program. Mr. Fuentes has an extensive baseball background in the Tri-State area and Hudson County with experience at both the high school and college levels. His deep “bench” of knowledge spans the tactical, strategic and motivational parts of the game and will ensure Marist returns to its rightful place as the leading Hudson County baseball school.
Fuentes was a 2001 New York Yankees 36th round draft pick.
Fuentes currently serves as Head Coach for New Jersey's Metropolitan Collegiate Baseball League and was a Professional and Collegiate baseball player for the Rockford (Illinois) Riverhawks and Miami-Dade University. He's looking forward to bringing his experience to Marist and managing the change, saying, "It’s an absolute honor and privilege to lead the Marist baseball program. The history and tradition of Marist baseball is second to none. I’m looking forward to working with this terrific group of boys. Go Royal Knights!"
Mr. Fuentes is a Paraprofessional Teaching Aide at Memorial High School in West New York where he has been since 2008. He has a B.S. in Psychology and is pursuing a Masters degree in Counseling at St. Peters University
