John "Jackie" G. Moore, who had coaching stints at Marist and Don Bosco Prep, passed away after battling cancer, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.
Moore led Marist to four playoff berths and a Hundson County championship during his eight seasons at the Bayonne school from 1974 to 1982. He was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2015.
He picked up his second head coaching stint in 1995 at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey and led the Ironmen to a four-year record of 21-17.
The team's playoff berth in 1998 - Moore's final season as head coach - was Don Bosco's first since 1990.
According to NorthJersey.com, Moore was an offensive and defensive line coach atWallington as recently as last year.
His funeral will be held at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights, on Monday at 8:45 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Church, 114 Mt. Vernon St., Ridgefield Park at 10 a.m. Interment following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m.
