Sports and Athletics

Marist High School prides itself not only on its outstanding tradition of winning, but its commitment to cooperation in academic, athletic, religious, and social endeavors. Athletics is an integral part of the school's program of education. While students are stimulated to want to win and excel, the principles of self-discipline, teamwork, and good sportsmanship must prevail. The underlying goal of the program is to help the student develop physically and emotionally.

Eligibility for athletic participation is overseen by the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA), the Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic Association (HCIAA), and Marist High School. In addition to maintaining academic eligibility, the Marist Student must possess a satisfactory disciplinary record.

Letters and Awards: Student recognition is part of the educational program at Marist, and is therefore an important part of athletics. Marist recognizes individuals at all levels: freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity. Students receive their letters and awards at seasonal award banquets. The requirements for earning a letter in a varsity sport varies with each athletic activity.
