Library Media Center - Dedication and Blessing
Exterior of the new Ciarco Family Library Media Center

On Tuesday, September 18, 2007, Marist High School held the dedication and blessing of it's state-of-the-art Ciarco Family Library Media Center. The dedication was held in the Marist auditorium and was attended by officals of the Archdioceses of Newark, Mayor Joseph V. Doria, Jr. of Bayonne and Marist Alum from the class of 1964, Philip and Kathleen Ciarco for whom the Library Media Center is named, faculty, staff and students of Marist High School.

The dedication was started with a greeting by Marist President and emcee of the event, Mr. Robert M. Slaski. Bro. John Klein, Marist Provincial for the US, spoke of how the whole project was conceived. Bro. Stephen Schlitte echoed Bro. John about how exciting it is to have this new workspace and how it will benefit Marist students for years to come.

The ceremony then shifted to the Library Media Center itself for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Philip and Kathleen Ciarco cut the ribbon together, thus marking the official opening of the media center.
Most Reverend Thomas A. Donato, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Newark

The blessing of the Library Media Center took place in the media center itself. The Most Reverend Thomas A. Donato of the Archdiocese of Newark presided over the blessing.

After the dedication and blessing, all in attendance were given tours of the new workspace and refreshments.

We would also like to extend special thanks to the Jersey Journal and the Rev. Alexander Santora for coming to cover the event. If you wish to read the article written by Fr. Santora for the Jersey Journal, click here.
