
Nia Daye '09
Nia Daye, a senior at Marist High School has been chosen as the Rotary Student of the month for April.
Nia has consistently been on the Honor Roll during her four years at Marist. She currently ranks sixth in her class. She has also been involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. Nia served as vice president of the National Honor Society during her junior and senior years, and is a member of the Executive Board of the Model UN Club in her sophomore, junior and senior years. In addition, Nia has been a retreat leader, peer counselor and member of the Marist Gospel choir. Nia ran cross-country track in her sophomore year. She also was a member of the cast of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat,” performed at Marist High School this past fall.
In addition to her school activities, Nia has been involved in a variety of other activities. See has volunteered at the Bayonne Medical Center, Bayonne Office of Aging and the Bayonne Community Center. Nia has also participated in the Cecily Tyson Summer Arts Conservatory Program, as well as the “Lead America” Performing Arts Program at Wagner College. Nia also participated this past summer in the African American Scholars Program at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
Nia has been accepted to the University of Notre Dame, Georgetown, New York University, Boston University and Rider University.
She will attend the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana in the fall, majoring in finance and/or music. Nia hopes to continue her business background with her musical ability and work as an artistic manager.
