Marist Students Chosen Rotary Students of the Month in March![]()

Two Marist seniors, Angelica Briones and Byron Hodge, have been chosen by the Rotary Club of Bayonne as students of the month for March. Angelica is the daughter of Wilfredo and Jovita Briones of Jersey City. Byron is the son of Arnold and Gweneth Hodge, also of Jersey City.
Angelica has been involved in a variety of activities during her time at Marist. As an active member of Campus Ministry, Angelica has served as a retreat leader for Marist underclassmen at Marist’s Retreat House in Esopus, New York. She is also an active member of the National Honor Society, and serves as a peer tutor. Angelica also participates in the Model UN Club, and most recently, took part in the Model United Nations at St. Peter’s College. Angelica demonstrates aptitude for Art. Not only does she take advanced Art courses at Marist, she is also an active participant in the school’s Art Club. Angelica’s art work will be on display at Marist’s upcoming Arts Festival, which is scheduled for April 23. Angelica applied to, and was accepted by Rider and Rutgers, New Brunswick. She will attend Rutgers, and hopes to combine her love of art with psychology. Her ultimate goal is to be an art therapist in a hospital or school.
Byron has also been highly involved in school activities while at Marist. He has played football during all four of his years at Marist, and has been a member of the school’s Chess Club. Like Angelica, he is involved in the Marist Campus Ministry program, where he participates as a leader in planning and participating in school Masses and prayer services. He also serves as a retreat leader. Byron has chosen accounting as a career goal. He has applied to William Paterson University, Albright College, St. Peter’s College and Westchester. Byron will attend St. Peter’s College on a scholarship.
