Marist High School Student Showcases Musical Talent

Marist High School senior, Iggy Hermann is a saxophonist for The Reminiscents, which is an eleven-piece band from various high schools in Hudson County.

The students perform a wide array of songs from the 1930’s through the 1970’s. Artists include: Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, The Four Tops, and Ray Charles.

The Reminiscents were formed as part of a pilot program sponsored by the New Jersey Youth Corps and Jersey City Arts High School Program. Iggy commented “I love to play music and feel privileged to be part of this program.”  Iggy and the band have performed at hospitals and, area concerts in the greater New York/New Jersey area. The Reminiscents were the first musical group to perform at the World Trade Center PATH station since 9/11/2001.  Ms. Miesnik, Assitant Principal for Academics stated, “Iggy is a talented musical artist and performing for others is natural for him.” Br. Steve Schlitte, Principal added, “Iggy does very well as a student who participates in the Marist High School Visual and Performing Arts Program.”
