Marist High School Hosts Korean Spirit and Cultural Promotion Project

Marist High School recently hosted members of the Korean Spirit & Cultural promotion project of Flushing Queens. The Korean group showed a film on the Sokkurum Grotto, as well as the accomplishments of modern day Korea. Students from the the Champagnat Scholars Program, Asian Studies Class, and students involved in the Chinese Cultural Project sponsored by Seton Hall University were in attendance. Seventh and eighth grade students from Our Lady of Mercy Academy who are involved in Project Accelerate and students from Mrs. Antice's fifth grade class from Midtown Comuunity School also attended.

In addition to the film, KSCPP re-enacted a Korean traditional wedding as well as a Korean New Year ceremony. Students from Marist, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Jersey City, and Midtown Community School, Bayonne wore traditional Korean dress, and participated in the ceremonies. After the ceremony, the students were treated to traditional Korean delicacies and received souvenirs commemorating the event.
