Marist High School recently celebrated its annual Spirit Week. Spirit Week is a time when Marist students and faculty renew their enthusiasm and spirit for the school. The week begins with a Pep Rally in which each of the Fall Sports teams are recognized.
As the week progresses, students in each grade compete for points; and participate in events such as Decade Day, Twin Day, Penny Wars, Alumni Homecoming and Champagnat Challenge. ” “Spirit Week is awesome; it builds class unity and makes you want to wake up and rush to school,” said seniors Raphelinne Lopez, Jessica Cordova and Jennifer Figueroa. “Although we still work hard in class, the spirit of the week makes school fun”, said junior Rudy Cordova.
At the end of the week, the Spirit Trophy is awarded to the class who earned the most points throughout the week. This year, the senior class won the Spirit Trophy. “Br. Steve Schlitte, FMS, Principal, said, “This year’s Spirit Week was the best ever. The students and faculty really enjoyed it. Not only does it bring spirit and life to our school, it also fosters class unity, sportsmanship, creativity and respect for others. I was really proud of our students during Spirit Week this year,” concluded Br. Schlitte.
The Champagnat Challenge culminates the week with a series of indoor field day like events. Spirit Week also included the annual Christmas Liturgy and Toys for Tots campaign.
