Blue & Gold Alumni Golf Classic

Mr. Frank Anderson was honored as the 2009 St. Marcellin Champagnat Service Award Honoree at Marist High School’s 15th Annual Blue & Gold Alumni Golf Classic held on September 22, 2009 at the Colonia Country Club.

Throughout his 43 year Marist High School career, Frank Anderson has worn many hats: football coach for ten years; Head soccer coach for over thirteen years; teacher; moderator of various Marist clubs; Alumni director since 1998. In most instances, these roles were performed at the same time. In May 2002, Frank became an affiliated member of the Marist Brothers. He founded the ongoing annual Alumni Soccer Game 19 years ago. Through the years he coordinated Alumni reunions, and drove a school bus for Marist athletic teams and students for 39 years. He is a founding member and continues to serve on the Marist Blue & Gold Alumni Golf Classic Committee. For the past 35 seasons Frank has been the clock operator for all Marist basketball games. His 37th season is underway. It’s not unusual for Frank to be approached as either “Coach,” “Mr. A,” or both by former students, long after their graduation, who by chance cross paths with him wherever he goes. 

After high school, from 1957 to 1959 Frank served with the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. From 1959 through 1995, he worked for American Airlines as an air cargo supervisor. He attended Seton Hall University and Caldwell College, and is certified in Theology by the Archdiocese of Newark.

Frank and his wife, Carol, are South River, NJ residents. They have two daughters, Colleen and Sharon, and four grandchildren: Bridget, Dierdre, Taylor and Mark. In his spare time, Frank is an annual American Heart Association walk-a-thon team captain.
