Freshmen Orientation![]()
Welcome to the Marist High School family. We hope that you and your family are having a great summer. As you all know, school will be starting before you know it. This begins a new and exciting chapter in your son’s/daughter’s life.
We have said that by choosing Marist, you’re not only making a decision about high school, but also making a decision to go on to college. The first steps of this journey are important ones; they will begin with Freshmen Orientation on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 1st and 2nd, from 9:00AM to 2:15PM. This orientation is designed to help ease the transition from grammar school to high school.
The morning session of DAY ONE will consist of students’ walking though their schedule so that they become more familiar and confident with changing classes and the schematics of the building. During class periods, the students will be learning about study skills, time management, Marist High School’s code of etiquette, and different programs that Marist offers to its student body. During the second session of DAY ONE, current Marist seniors will share their experiences and offer advice about how to be successful at Marist.
The morning session of DAY TWO of orientation will follow the same as DAY ONE, where students will learn more about life at Marist. The afternoon session of DAY TWO will be a freshmen field day. The field day is organized so that the students can make new friends and feel more welcome and comfortable in the Marist family.
Students are expected to arrive at Marist by 9:00AM on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 1st and 2nd. Students must be neatly dressed in Marist school uniform: “Neatly dressed” means that there should be: NO HATS, SWEAT BANDS, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF HEAD GEAR WORN, NO SNEAKERS, NO BOOTS, SHIRTS MUST BE TUCKED IN. Students are required to have a notebook and pen or pencil as well as a change of clothes for the field day on DAY TWO. Marist will provide lunch for the students on both days.
This orientation is the first step in preparing your son/daughter for a successful high school and college career. Remember: Go to Marist! Go to the college of your choice!
